I was asked by a reader about whether the Metal Detecting Membership; site (Murchison and Yalgoo Districts) provides locations that are Pending or free to access.

"I am interested in joining the Metal Detecting WA Membership Site. Before I do, I have a question. I am assuming that in the areas you have researched for us, that we can still only go there if the ground is pending or if we get a Section 40E permit. Is that correct?"

The answer:

We can tell you things about where the gold is, show you where it has been found, suggest areas to search and the types of geology to target, but mining tenements change from day to day.

Something that might be vacant today might be pegged tomorrow and be pending, or it might already be live, and as you know, on a live tenement you need permission to access.

What is Reported in the Membership Site?

• The Membership site provides information on where gold is located, the geology, and how to get to the locations.
• However - Tenements change daily, so what's available for Metal Detecting today may not be tomorrow.

Accessing Tenements

• For live mining or prospecting tenements, you need written permission from the leaseholder.
• For exploration tenements, (about 85% of ALL pegged land) you need a section 40E permit.
